Chemical Hazards Evaluation
Risk management for a chemical process begins with the identification of potential chemical process upsets (for example, loss of utilities, wrong addition rates, thermal instability, etc.). BakerRisk scientists and engineers determine the severity and consequences of these upsets using expert knowledge and calorimetric testing techniques. We employ a range of qualitative assessments and specifically designed tests to provide a full hazard evaluation of the chemical process. Our comprehensive reactive chemicals testing program provides sufficient data to predict the behavior of the process in order to:
- Judge the suitability of the process (new or modified);
- Produce data for engineering purposes; for example, to verify cooling system capacity, to design emergency relied systems, and quench systems, etc.
- Avoid unexpected side reactions or decompositions of chemicals and mixtures;
Our scientists and engineers provide clients with specialist testing services for the evaluation of reactive chemistries, thermal stability, and operational hazards utilizing an extensive array of small and large-scale ASTM test techniques. We also perform special flammability testing at elevated temperatures and pressures for multi-component gas and vapor mixtures. Because every process is different, we work with each client to define the hazards testing that they need. We develop customized tests, when needed, to provide hazard data that is not available by any other means.
