Blast Products Certification Program

Intertek and BakerRisk have teamed up to offer a Blast Certification Program for Door and Window Assemblies. Since 9/11 and recent accidental industrial explosion events, an increased focus has been placed on the performance of building products in facilities subject to explosion hazards. Manufacturers of hardened conventional building products must design and validate these products through testing to withstand dynamic blast loads prior to market entry. Among these products, door and window assemblies must be designed to withstand severe dynamic blast overpressures without experiencing product failures, so that injuries from hazardous debris can be prevented, or operability can be maintained. Industries and government organizations are driving the need for this type of product testing and certification. Intertek has become the first independent certification agency to offer a Certification Program for blast resistant products. These certified products bear the Intertek WH Mark, ensuring that they will perform to the required minimum damage performance criteria under specified blast conditions. BakerRisk has partnered with Intertek to perform the blast testing on these products at the BakerRisk shock tube facility to validate the performance rating for window and door assemblies. BakerRisk can also provide additional product development services to meet adequate blast resistance criteria to meet client needs.
