Structural Response Testing

Explosion and structural response experimental programs supplement BakerRisk's design and analysis expertise when test data are necessary to solve a client's problem or to advance our internal capabilities.

BakerRisk's unique shock tube facility allows testing of the structural response of building components to blast loadings of up to approximately 40 psi without the costs or hazards of using high explosives. This gas pressure-driven shock tube creates a blast wave that loads a target area of 8 ft by 8 ft in normal operating conditions. The shock tube can be fitted with an expansion section that increases the target area to 10 ft by 10 ft and allows 12 ft by 12 ft test specimens to be mounted for testing. We have performed thousands of tests in which we have determined the blast resistance of a structural system or verified the design of structural upgrades.
