The company is organized into sections with technical specialties in the fields of Protective Structures, Blast Effects, Process Safety, Materials Engineering, and Testing. Project teams are largely multidisciplinary and drawn from each section of the company.

Structural Analysis & Retrofits

Our Structures staff has extensive experience in blast design and the evaluation of protective structures. Typical projects involve the design and analysis of buildings and other structural systems exposed to blast or other highly impulsive loads.

Blast Effects

Our Blast Effects staff works closely with industrial clients to identify potential explosion hazards in their facilities, develop credible and worst case accident scenarios, evaluate the consequences of accidental explosions and recommend prevention, mitigation, and protective measures to reduce the risks to personnel and other assets. Our blast effects engineers come from mechanical, chemical, nuclear and aeronautical engineering backgrounds and commonly have experience with explosion hazards.

Process Safety

Our Process Safety staff provides specialized engineering and technical services that allow clients to address key design and operating concerns for a broad base of process safety areas, including: process hazards analysis, fire protection engineering, process safety and loss prevention engineering, reliability and value engineering, industrial hygiene and applied toxicology and chemical release modeling, reactive chemicals and testing.

Materials Engineering & Testing

Our Material Engineering staff provides consulting expertise in materials, metallurgy, failure analysis, and mechanical integrity.  Typical projects involve piping and structural failures due to material problems, weld quality, or evaluating the suitability of material for various plant service.

Our scientists and engineers provide clients with specialized hazard analyses of flammable and reactive chemistries, thermal stability, material properties, and operational hazards.  Small and large scale tests are used to support the consulting services provided.  Each of the sections perform testing in their relevant areas, such as ignition and flammable limits, vapor cloud blast testing, scanning electron microscope analysis, and structural failure testing.
