Thanks for your interest in the BakerRisk Co-op Program. Co-ops are an integral part of the BakerRisk team and work on challenging projects alongside a highly skilled team of engineers. Below are a list of frequently asked questions about our Co-op program. Internships & Co-ops: Frequently Asked Questions
NOTE: The following information may pertain to domestic U.S. sites only.
Intern: Paid internship assignments are designed for undergraduate and graduate level students. In order to meet basic qualifications, students should have completed their sophomore year and have some academic preparation in an engineering discipline specific to the needs of BakerRisk. The goal of our student intern/co-op program is to create a training ground for future employees. The students are reporting to an experienced manager who provides guidance and mentorship during the 12-week internship. This position counts toward academic credit.
Cooperative Education (Co-op): A co-op assignment is generally completed by a student over one or more semesters/quarters. The concept of cooperative education is based on paid work typically for 7 to 8 months. The student may receive academic credit for the work being performed. Please coordinate with your school to determine if you are eligible to receive credit. In order to meet basic qualifications, students should have completed their sophomore year and have some academic preparation in an engineering field.
BakerRisk does not offer internships for students until they have completed at least one co-op term with us.
Resumes are accepted in September during the Fall semester university career fair cycle.
Intern assignments are generally available for prior co-op students during the summer months, starting in May or June and ending in August. Co-op opportunities are longer. The Spring/Summer term goes from January through August and the Summer/Fall term is from June through December.
Intern and co-op assignments are posted at select universities as well as on this site. Most positions are posted on our career site for 30 days or until a sufficient number of resumes are received.
If you apply for a position on BakerRisk’s website, an e-mail notification will be sent to you confirming that your resume has been received. No further communication will be made with you unless you are identified as a qualified candidate of interest. Qualified candidates of interest will be contacted directly by a BakerRisk recruiter or hiring manager.
Resumes are reviewed by BakerRisk recruiters and hiring managers. Phone interviews are conducted with selected candidates. Offers are usually made between September and October for the following calendar year.
All individuals applying for an internship or a co-op assignment at BakerRisk must meet the following criteria:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have appropriate work authorization
- Must be a current full-time student
- Must have completed two full years of academic study at the time of their co-op term
- Must have not yet graduated
- Must be pursuing an applicable degree or course of study
- Must be in good academic standing within their majors and overall at their university
- May require a valid drivers license (select departments)
BakerRisk pays a competitive wage to an intern or co-op based on discipline, completed years of education and previous experience. Our salary guidelines are reviewed annually for competitiveness within the industry.
No. BakerRisk does not offer unpaid intern, co-op or volunteer assignments.
BakerRisk interns and co-ops are currently eligible for the company-paid holidays that take place during their work term, participation in the 401K program if 21 years or older, may attend at corporate events and participation in training courses.
BakerRisk generally offers relocation assistance for those students whose work location is greater than 250 miles from their school. More detailed information is provided at the time of employment offer.
BakerRisk actively recruits at Texas A&M University, University of Texas, University of Houston, and University of Illinois during the Fall recruiting season. Our on-campus activities may vary each year so please check with your campus career center or visit this website for updates.

Intern and co-op assignments are typically available at most BakerRisk U.S. locations as well as Canada and the UK.
We recruit students majoring in Engineering in the following disciplines: Chemical, Structural, Mechanical, and Material Science.
If selected, candidates will receive a welcome packet and offer letter from BakerRisk. This information will confirm the student’s start date and details on what to expect on the first day. Interns and co-ops also receive special orientation presentations and training.
BakerRisk interns and co-ops are invited to learn as much as they can about BakerRisk’s values, organizational structure and business services. We also provide many opportunities to establish a network among fellow interns/co-op students and within the BakerRisk community.
