Learn the answers to all of these questions and more in BakerRisk’s Facility Siting course. This course will focus on the ins and outs of facility siting and the strengths and weaknesses of various different techniques. Having learned from instructors at the forefront of facility siting science and policy, you will leave the course knowing how to use the results of a facility siting study to drive decision-making.

What you will learn:

  • FSS / QRA regulations and industry guidance
  • Hazard identification and hazard definition
  • Hazard analysis
  • Discharge
  • Dispersion
  • Occupant vulnerability (OV) determination
  • Building analysis
  • Outdoor areas
  • Toxic / Fire / Blast / Other hazards
    • Congestion / Confinement theory and modeling
  • Explosion calculations
  • Risk analysis
  • Frequency analysis
  • Occupancy analysis
    • Overview of risk measures
  • Societal risk
  • Individual risk
  • FN curve

Course Learning Objectives:

Participants will learn techniques and tools to assist in guiding teams through the qualitative risk analysis process. This course will cover a basic understanding of best practices in a successful process hazard analysis and semi-quantitative tools like LOPA . At the end of the course, participants will have the ability to practice techniques and tools covered in mock PHA/LOPA sessions to better prepare them for participating in an actual study.

Who should attend?

Process safety managers, engineers, operators, or I&E/Maintenance, project engineers, or anyone else who is anticipated to be involved in a PHA study, whether for an operating company, for an engineering company, or as a consultant.

Why should someone take your course?

To acquire the skills to become an effective PHA and LOPA facilitator and/or team member.

The course will discuss the following elements:

  • Introduction to HIRA techniques
  • Hazard identification (HAZID)
  • What-if analysis and checklists
  • HAZOP method review
  • Preparation, Facilitation, and PHA Variants
  • LOPA method review
  • Mock sessions practicing analysis methods
