Launch of Best Practice Guidance Series by BakerRisk
We are pleased to announce the official launch of our new Best Practice guidance series, which is designed to provide additional guidance to industry on risk management topics of common interest.
To kick-off this new series, we are pleased to share our first guidance document! Anthony Sarrack and his BakerRisk colleagues have collectively leveraged their years of experience to develop this shelter-in-place (SIP) guidance.
This document holistically identifies the need for timely and reliable detection of hazardous gases as well as design of a leak tight SIP location:
- minimize ingress of hazardous gas (flammable or toxic) into the SIP building
- establish effective barriers to minimize infiltration once the ventilation system has been isolated, and
- develop an effective evacuation plan in the event the SIP is compromised.
This guidance document closes a significant gap in the understanding and use of SIP as a strategy for risk mitigation.
