This article discusses practical differences between high-cycle fatigue (HCF) and low-cycle fatigue (LCF) at relatively lower temperatures in rotating equipment and the equipment attached to it. Methods to identify the failure mode are discussed so proper prevention measures can be put in place to prevent future occurrences. Examples of typical components are provided to show the methods in action.
