Papers and Conference Presentations
Dr. Zhao is a member of BakerRisk’s Process Safety Group. Her work focuses on the consequence modeling of toxic releases and vapor cloud explosions. She has performed numerous facility siting studies, consequence analysis, and quantitative risk analysis studies at gas plants and petrochemical facilities, as well as in the fertilizer industry. Dr. Zhao’s experience also incorporates Safety Instrumented System (SIS) design basis development and verification/validation projects. She has performed as facilitator and scribe on numerous Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assignments and performed quantitative reliability analysis to verify achievement of SIL targets calculations.
Mr. Gajeski is a member of BakerRisk’s Process Safety Group. His work focuses on Facility Siting Studies (FSS) and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) for refineries and petrochemical facilities where he has gained experience in consequence modeling of blast, toxic releases, and flammable vapor cloud explosions using BakerRisk’s dispersion and blast modeling software tool, Safesite3G©. Mr. Gajeski also has experience performing loss prevention surveys. These surveys focused on identifying and evaluating the property and production loss potential for the site. These surveys also examined a facility’s management programs (operations, maintenance, inspection, etc.) and its capabilities to minimize or prevent loss. Since leading the testing program for the Process Safety Group starting in 2020, Mr. Gajeski has led numerous testing programs including jet fire hazards to various types of building structures, thermal impacts to flexible piping, leak detection of various hydrocarbons and hydrogen, collecting dispersion and jet fire data used to evaluate the model used in BakerRisk’s dispersion and blast modeling software tool, Safesite3G©, and dozens of other test programs.
As the biofuels industry continues to expand in support of global decarbonization mandates and objectives, facility owners and developers are being challenged to balance production efficiency, operational reliability, and personnel safety.
As high hazard facilities, biofuels sites should focus on developing a fire protections strategy informed by performance-based analysis so strategies implemented meet the unique challenges found at each facility.
