This case study will present findings from a project where BakerRisk developed risk mitigation options to protect the occupants of a control room building from the consequences posed by toxic hazards in a Chemical Processing facility. The primary hazards considered in the study were Ammonia and, hydrogen sulfide. For the purpose of determining the maximum concentrations that would occur inside the building, infiltration rate for the building was determined using a CO2 tracer gas test. Furthermore, infiltration rate for various weather conditions was predicted using analytical models.
Mr. Raibagkar is a principal engineer in the protective structures group. His work focuses on Non-Linear Dynamic analyses of various types of existing buildings (steel, concrete, and masonry) to determine their blast capacity for different loading scenarios. He is also experienced with designing retrofits for existing buildings to achieve the desired level of protection against blast loads. Mr. Raibagkar is also a voting member of CSA S850:23 – Design and assessment of buildings subjected to blast loads committee.
Anay is also the Manager of Software Development where he oversees the production of all BakerRisk software.
As the biofuels industry continues to expand in support of global decarbonization mandates and objectives, facility owners and developers are being challenged to balance production efficiency, operational reliability, and personnel safety.
As high hazard facilities, biofuels sites should focus on developing a fire protections strategy informed by performance-based analysis so strategies implemented meet the unique challenges found at each facility.
