Portable buildings are gaining widespread use at refining and chemical processing facilities, particularly for facility siting requirements. Although trailers and blast resistant modules (BRMs) can be used for many modular applications, in certain situations fabric structures may provide a viable alternative. However, the blast response of fabric structures is neither clearly defined nor well understood throughout the blast design community.
As the biofuels industry continues to expand in support of global decarbonization mandates and objectives, facility owners and developers are being challenged to balance production efficiency, operational reliability, and personnel safety.
As high hazard facilities, biofuels sites should focus on developing a fire protections strategy informed by performance-based analysis so strategies implemented meet the unique challenges found at each facility.
